Lessons From a Toddler - Part 2

It's amazing how much toddlers develop and change in 2 months.  Here are a few more lessons that I've learned (re-learned) since my last entry.

  1. No matter how nice the shoes, bare feet are the best.
  2. Outside is better than inside.
  3. Sand is an essential "mineral".
  4. Learning is more about persistence than intelligence.
  5. Sometimes self imposed quiet time is necessary.
  6. If you want something, ask.  If that doesn't work go get it anyway.
  7. Celebrate your own accomplishments.  Climbing into grandpa's chair is a big deal...
  8. If you get bored with something, move on.  You can always come back.
  9. Cheesecake is the food of the gods!
  10. No matter how much is going on or how many things need doing, naps are still important.

More lessons to come.

Lessons From a Toddler

I'm loving being a grandparent and I've found hanging out with my grandson to be relaxing (most of the time) and a learning experience.  So far, this is what I've discovered.

  1. Birds are fascinating and can be watched for a long time without being bored.
  2. The feeling of a light wind on your face is good.  Stop and enjoy it.
  3. If you're not making progress, move on to something else.
  4. Water is fascinating, especially when you pour it on yourself.
  5. Everyone is a potential friend if you smile and wave at them.
  6. Eating dry Cheerios out of a cup while swinging on a porch swing is a good thing to do.
  7. Throwing things feels good.
  8. Grass feels good on your feet.
  9. Hands on learning is fun.
  10. Naps are important.

More lessons to come.

Some Days It's Hard To Be An Adult...

Today was one of those days where I didn't want to grow up and be an adult.  I was having too much fun playing cars and motorcycles with my grandson...  Adventures around the living room are the best!

Play!

Play is important at any age.  It frees the mind the cares of the world and allows us to see what's truly important in life.  Play is also good for our health, both mental and physical.

Albert Einstein said that "Play is the highest form of research."

Play is also a form of adventure so take time to play each day.  It's worth it!
